Zach M. Werhan, LCPC, LMAC

Kansas has the best people in the country.

IT'S TIME OUR POLICIES MATCHED.

WORKING FOR US

MENTAL HEALTH CARE ACCESS

Kansas faces a mental health shortage in 99 out of 105 counties, forcing families to drive hours and wait months. As a licensed therapist, I’ve lived this—and I’m running to bridge the access of care gap

LOWERING YOUR PROPERTY TAXES

District 83 families are watching property tax spikes while Topeka gridlocks. Despite a surplus, tax relief has not been there. I’m running to cap increases and ensure your family can afford to stay in your homes.

HOLDING SCHOOLS ACCOUNTABLE FOR RESULTS

Kansas is spending billions on education, yet student outcomes continue to fall. I’m fighting for fiscal accountability & stronger vocational pathways. Our kids deserve schools that are invested in building brighter futures.

MY
VISION

It's time for a brighter future.

My vision for Kansas is straightforward. Families who are struggling get real support before a struggle becomes a crisis. Small businesses get out from under the regulations and tax burdens that are bleeding them dry. Students graduate with a path forward. And every dollar of taxpayer money gets treated with the same discipline that Kansas families apply to their own budgets.

I didn't get into mental health because it was easy. I got into it because people deserve someone in their corner before things fall apart; not after.  I have listened to this district longer and more honestly than anyone currently working in Topeka.

Kansas needs someone who already knows what this community is carrying. I do. And I'm done watching people who have never sat across from a struggling Kansas family make decisions about them from a desk in Topeka.

Kansas is my home, my family's home, and the only place I have ever wanted to fight for. The next generation of leadership has to come from people with real skin in the game. People who live here, work here, and flat out refuse to accept that this is as good as it gets.

That's who I am. And that's the standard I'm holding our district to.

Zach Werhan is a fifth-generation Kansan. He grew up in Wichita, where he met his wife, and together they are raising two young children at home. Zach earned his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and his master's degree from Wichita State University. He holds licenses as both a Clinical Professional Counselor and a Master Addiction Counselor, runs a private clinical practice, teaches as an adjunct instructor.

In his practice, Zach works daily with Kansas families navigating a broken mental health system — dads who can't get care for their kids through KanCare, families stretched thin by rising property taxes, and young people who graduated high school without the tools to take care of their own minds.

After years of hearing what doesn't make the news, Zach asked himself who was going to Topeka to fight for these families. When he couldn't find a good enough answer, he decided to go himself.

Zach is running for the Kansas House because he already knows what's broken in District 83 — and he believes this district deserves someone who doesn't need a briefing to figure it out.

Zach and his family are proud to call Wichita home.
